Out on the River

Usually during the night, whenever I'm feeling down or bored, I go to the river. If you look north from here, you can see Jacksonville, while if you look straight ahead, you can see all of the city lights on the eastern side of Florida. And that's at night. Since the shore faces east, you can see the sun and moon both rise right on the horizon. So I thought I'd go out early and take some photos, and practice with some warm morning light.

I do however plan on going back even earlier tomorrow, and lesson learned: Bring sunglasses.

Christmas on Walnut St.

In Green Cove, every year there's a Christmas on Walnut St. going on. Unfortunately, I couldn't get that many good pictures of the actual parade itself. But as far as the actual Christmas event in Spring Park, I got a few nice shots including one shot that was a mistake that I think turned out nicely.

Vacation

So I'm staying with some relatives this weekend. Kind of like a mini vacation for me. Anyway, they have a cat named Leo and a shedding Oak tree. Makes for a few pictures here and there.

Giraffes. Awesome.

I went to the Zoo yesterday with the parents. There's more, I just have to watermark them right because for some reason my application was processing them slowly and I haven't had a chance to actually process them.

2009-2011 Comparison/Experiences

It's almost years end, and in one month, it'll have been two years since I begun this whole photography thing. In my last post, I said how I would dig through some of my old photos and then compare them to some of my more recent photos, in an attempt to see how much I've learned over the course of a year. Some of these first photos were taken were downtown Jacksonville at the Landing in 2009 over the course of two days. Yeah, I went there twice with my first camera, a Gateway MC-42 4.2 megapixel camera.

Start/Winter 2009

When I got my current camera in December (Polaroid i1236), it was like a huge upgrade for me. Still needing the practice though, it's true what they say about how the photographer makes the camera, not the other way around. Then/Summer-Winter 2010

Event Period/Summer 2011

Unfortunately, it was Rock on The River II that my camera seemed to have developed a smudge of dirt inside the lens, so within every photo, I get dark spots that are hard to edit out. I can either edit them, or use them to blend with the scenery.

I wasn't going to contribute these, considering I wasn't only going for my own leisure, but to practice considering I only get to practice with fireworks once every six months. However, we were short on photos, so I decided to throw my share in.
