The last roll

I just read an article on Gizmodo about how the last roll of Kodachrome film ever will be developed today. Kodak quit making it a year ago. I've never used analogue photography, or film exactly, but it actually does depress me for some reason. I feel as though as a society, we're slowly forgetting and phasing out what we once had that gave us what we have today.

Kodachrome, as I never knew, was apparently one of the widely respected and beautiful films. You can read more about it here because I don't feel like typing a lot.

Southern Morn

I woke up on Christmas morning to see this sight out my window. I took my camera and took a two-exposure HDR and I think it turned out really well. Christmas morning in Florida!

Total Lunar Eclipse 2010

A little late on this one, considering this happened at least two days ago. I sat up two telescopes and jury-rigged the shots by taking photographs through the telescope lens. It was at least forty degrees outside and I stayed out from when it started until it ended at five in the morning. I've never been bushed from doing absolutely nothing but sitting in the grass. If I had an SLR though, I could have just used the telescope as a lens. A huge lens. Anyway, here they are.

Christmas Time and City Limits

The photo of the Christmas ornament was actually taken not too long ago. I just set up my tripod and snapped a few pictures. I like this one best.

However, the photo of the Green Cove Springs city limits was actually taken in a restaurant in the same area. I took three low-level exposures with my hands, making the image shaky but I think it still came out nicely. I love the effect.

I guess that's it with the updates for now. Merry Christmas.

Giz Shooting Challenge: Pixelmutation

Another shooting challenge I might have to skip. Pixelmutation. It's not that I don't know how to do it, it's that I don't have any subject matter. I did have one idea but by the time that was able to be turned into a reality, the challenge would be over.

So I'm doing a "Four Seasons" assignment

So this is a nifty idea. Started by a photographer friend of mine, it involves taking a picture of the same location once every season in the year 2011. I'm still trying to decide what exactly to take picture of and which method to use to remember my place. I was thinking just using rods placed in the ground showing where my tripod would sit.

All in all, our seasons in Florida are pretty late. Our leaves are just starting to turn colors. Technically, it's fall for us in the middle of winter... So I'm debating whether or not how to do this to keep up with the others. Maybe starting earlier than most would help me out. Any ideas?

A little about me

Hey there. I'm sixteen, and I'm a photographer in Jacksonville Florida. I started this as a mere time killing hobby around November of 2009 and decided to take it from there. My goals are to be an urban photographer, taking the occasional portrait and to document my experience as a photographer. Now, I'm hoping to make a career out of it a year later. I believe I've improved a lot over the year, so I've decided to take a leap from DeviantArt and make a blog for my photos as well as a personal blog of things that go on in my life. But since it is technically a photo blog, there'll be pictures to document them!

I'm not sure where to start, or what to post... But DeviantArt will probably get more photos than this considering I'm new to blogger altogether. Until next time.
