Snakin' Around the Lime Tree

Was at an event for My9oh4 again. This time it was a car show and a lime toss tournament for tickets for two for a trip to Las Vegas. There were two models there, which I shot waiting for all the cars to show up. Not a whole lot did on account of they thought it would rain. Which puzzles me, because rain doesn't hurt cars. Bring an umbrella! To cut a long story short, Riddel shot the cars while I covered the lime toss event, considering my lens could fit through the net. I wont post any of the lime tossing event, because there were hundreds, but I managed to cut them down to about 51 to meet Facebook's album limit. I will post some of the cars, the snake, and the models. Most of the model pictures fall into the semi-provocative categories, which isn't my typical subject when I'm out shooting. It just kind of happened. Regardless, I think they turned out well considering it was my first time taking pictures of models. c:

I wish I had more to post to my blog that isn't of event shots. More frequently, too. It's great and all I have these events, but I guess I just haven't found a whole lot to shoot locally, because I feel as though I've already shot everything of interest in my neighborhood. Now that I've gotten better, I could probably re-shoot a lot of old subjects. But I don't really leave my neighborhood all that much unless it's for an event. I should make it a point to go downtown one of these days by myself for no other purpose than to take pictures, and enjoy the silence and comforting hobby that is photography.

Friendship Fountain Reopening! (Update)

At first I was going to see it in action after a couple of years and take some photos, until Jonathan asked me to go ahead and take some photographs for My9oh4 while I was there. After looking through the images, I didn't cover the event nearly enough as I would have liked but shot none the less. I had left my rechargeable batteries (and it's charger) elsewhere and the current pair I had didn't have a charge so I was forced to use generic brand disposables, which died out every 4-6 photos. It was an annoying experience and caused me to lose the chance for a lot of good shots. Regardless though, I went out and shot.

The reason I keep uploading a lot of my photos to Facebook instead of here or DeviantART like usual is because these are event photos, which if I upload by Facebook, are easier to share with My9oh4 and it's fans. Blogger is limited by bandwidth, and DeviantART is a pain in the backside, so by the time I upload them to Facebook I figure it would just be easier to hotlink to them and link everyone to the Facebook album as opposed to another service. At any rate, regular photography without commission will be uploaded here as per usual.

Update: 6/27/2011
I managed to get to the fountain at night awhile ago, but I forgot about the pictures I took until now. I took about seventy, but I managed to cut them down to about fourteen... Anyway, I'll post 'em right up. I'm debating on what image host to use, because blogger his it's prissy limits... So I just uploaded them to my photography Facebook page for now. A lot of the first ones are test shots and exposure tests, considering I don't do night shooting all that much.




Now that I have a pretty good grasp at what I'm doing and have learned from my mistakes, I plan to return and take many, many better ones. Night photography to me is a whole new ball game.

Hooters Car Wash! And possible career.

If you don't know who my9oh4.com is, I'll get to that in a second. I'm a little late in writing this, considering I was gone all day yesterday, but I was sent by Johnathan Durst to photograph a Hooter's car wash on San Jose. They were doing it for donations to the Kelly Jo Dowd foundation. I'm not going to re-post all of the photos here, but you can see all of them on Facebook for now.

Now, about the career. Remember Johnathan? He's the owner of my9oh4.com. He's also the one who sent me out to take photos of this event to see how I shot. I guess I did something right, because he's said I was my9oh4's newest photographer. At any rate, I hope I get to go far with this. So wish me luck! c:

x102.9's Rock on the River II

Oh my God. This was so great. When we showed up, we were an hour or two late after waiting on a friend of mine, and by the time we got there, it was just kicking off. This was amazing. The only part that was questionable was the strong smell of beer in the air, but it made me actually feel a part of the whole thing. Everyone was jumping, the band really got involved with the crowd. At one point, AWOLNATION got the entire crowd in the Landing's courtyard to jump, screaming, "Are you ready to crack the ******* ground?!". It was really fun. In between bands, there was other stuff going on as well. There was a performer using sticks to keep one bigger stick in the air. I'm not sure what this is actually called, so bear with me. Forgive all the trash, where he was performing was actually a mosh pit when the bands were playing. Which was fun to be a part of.

At any rate, I snapped a panorama of the entire crowd so if you see yourself, give a shout!

I'm hoping to attend next year, as well. With a better camera! I have more pictures and I'll probably upload them at a later point but they need a lot of editing for the dirt spots and how uncooperative the sun was this afternoon. It was so bright and harsh. It shows in all of my photos, as you can see it was pretty hot.

Musician's Delight

Was at a friends' yesterday whose working his way to composer. Hes pretty good, if you ask me - And he even let me grab this shot of his guitars. These are only a few of many. Hopefully in the future, I'll even be working alongside him taking photos of his band.
